Professor Sir Nicholas Wald FRS FRCP (Managing Director of Logical Medical Systems and Professor of Environmental and Preventive Medicine, Wolfson Institute of Preventive Medicine, Queen Mary University of London) presents a talk on "Half a Century of Progress in Antenatal Screening for Down's Syndrome".

Antenatal screening for Down’s syndrome and other chromosomal abnormalities has made enormous progress over the past 40 years. The talk reviews the history of this progress leading to a discussion of how new modern DNA sequencing technology can now be used in conjunction with conventional screening markers to achieve a high screening performance which translates into significant benefits to women undergoing screening.
